Services for Adults

Immunization:   Tetanus Booster, Influenza, Pneumonia,  Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A

Tuesday & Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Walk-in, first-come basis.

Medicare payment accepted.

Blood Pressure Screening Disease:  Tuesday & Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. for general public at no charge. 

Cholesterol and Glucose Screening:  Tuesday & Thursday 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Available:   Total Cholesterol, Good Cholesterol and Bad Cholesterol, Triglycerides, and Blood Sugar.

Cost: $10.00 per test for Total Cholesterol & Glucose,  $25.00  for Lipid Panel, Blood Sugar, Glucoscan - $2.00

Tuberculosis Skin Tests:   Monday & Tuesday 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Cost: $7.00 per test.  Medicaid accepted.

Mantoux and Tine available, must return in 48 hours for reading.

Tuberculosis Clinic:   Held the second and fourth Thursday of the month, call your local Health Department for referral.

Chronic Disease Visits:   Home and office visits with physician's orders.

Health Education:   Services are available throughout the county along with pamphlets and videos.

 

The Ashtabula City Health Department is offering flu vaccine to the public.   The flu vaccine is indicated for the following population:

 

a. Age 65 years or older

b. Age less than 65 years with any of the following conditions:

bullet

chronic disorder of the pulmonary or cardiovascular system, including asthma

bullet

chronic metabolic disease (e.g., diabetes mellitus), renal dysfunction, hemoglobinopathy, or immunosuppression (e.g., caused by medications, HIV) that has required regular medical follow-up or hospitalization during the preceding year

bullet

will be in the second or third trimester of pregnancy during the influenza season

c. Residence in a nursing home or  other chronic-care facility that houses persons of any age who have chronic medical conditions

 

d. In an occupation or living situation that puts one in proximity to persons at high risk, including:

bullet

a health care worker, caregiver, or household member in contact with person(s) at high risk of developing complications from influenza

bullet

a household contact or out-of-home caretaker of a child 0-23 months of age

 e. Wish to reduce the likelihood of becoming ill with influenza

 

The pneumococcal vaccine will be offered again this fall.   This vaccine protects against strains of bacterial pneumonia.   It is recommended for all individuals 65 years of age or older, those younger than 65 with underlying medical conditions (including cardiovascular and pulmonary disease, diabetes, liver disease and immunocompromised people).  

Flu ~ $15.00

Pneumonia ~ $25.00

Tetanus ~ $10.00 (needed every 10 years)

 Services for Children

Immunization:   All required Infant Shots, Diphtheria, Pertussis, Tetanus, Haemophilus B, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus Booster, (Pneumococcal) Menomune for college-bound student.

Monday & Wednesday 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Walk-in, first-come basis

Donation of $5.00 per vaccine.   Medicaid accepted. Donation may be waived if unable to pay. 

Communicable Disease:  Office and home visits for assistance in identification, reporting and education.

Well Child Physical Exam:  Referrals for children birth to 21 years of age.   Fee on sliding scale or Medicaid payment.

Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps:  Diagnostic referrals and appointment with follow-up visits as needed.

Lead Level Elevations:  Elevated lead level reporting.  Follow-up assessments and education with the Environmental Health Director.

Hearing Clinic:  County-wide clinic by appointment, contact Health Department for further information.

Orthopedic / Scoliosis Clinic:  County-wide clinic by appointment, referral by physician, school nurse or public health nurse.  Contact Health Department for further information.

Vision and Hearing Screening:  Contact Health Department for an appointment.
